My Belated Earth Day Project, DIY Swiffer Mop Pads Tutorial

When I first got the Swiffer Mop I was in LOVE! It was so easy to use. No gross mop to keep stored in your closet or mop bucket to maneuver through the kitchen. Well, I WAS in love. It started to irk me how much the replacement pads and solution cost. Not to mention what it was doing to the environment. So I tried a few different materials so see what would stick to the mop without actually using velcro. Microfiber towels were by far the best option.

I headed to Target (where we lost a shoe, hers not mine) and found a 12 pack of microfiber towels in the car department on sale for $5.49, regularly $9.99!!!

I decided that I would use six for the Swiffer Mop and six for the Swiffer Vac.

For the Swiffer Mop pads I folded the towel in half and used a generous seam allowance. I left a 3 inch opening to turn the cloth right side out.

Turn right sides out, trim your seam allowance and poke your corners. Then I top stitched around the whole thing and sewed some lines down the middle to keep it from moving.

For the Swiffer Vac I traced a pad I already had. I placed it on the towel and added a 1 inch seam allowance.

I then folded all four edges over 1/4 inch and then another 1/4 and sewed. That's it!

Remember not to use fabric softener when drying these. It makes the "static" properties in the microfiber disappear. Also, don't iron them :):):) I figured up the cost and what I would save once I start making my own solution. This saves about $350 a year!!!

Just for fun, here's some pictures from Easter.

It was rainy here so we had an Egg Hunter wardrobe change :)

And I'm on my second batch of homemade yogurt and granola. It's just as good as the first time, mmmmmm mmmmmm!

  2. I've listened to this a dozen or more times and still find it delightful and sooooo original in concept. " Earlier today some cruise ship struck land in Alaska. It the radio was the only one that used to deliver the days news and weather updates.

The second option is to use headphones as you probably did at the gym in the past.

Avoid burnout by mixing up your exercises so that you will stay interested in doing them.
