So I realize it's been about 4 months since I've been here, but I'm going to just jump right back in and work my way back :)
Today I finished my first ever adult size dress, from a pattern at that!!!!!!
It's the Wiksten Tank and I chose to do the dress version. I had to add about 6 inches to the bottom since I am 5'10 and modest ;) I have to say I am extremely excited about this dress because it actually fits and is extremely comfortable! I would love to make 100 of these for the summer....but it took about 3.5 yards so I'd have to catch a really awesome sale on fabric.
Love the pocket detail. I added the tie because if not it looks like a tent!
I LOVE the fabric you chose. I'm planning to make this dress soon, and will have to add six inches too!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I actually found it at Joann's so with a few coupons the price was right. This is such a lovely pattern, you'll want to keep making them! Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with :)
DeleteBeautiful fabric! I love it with the tie. You did a wonderful job sewing it, and you look great in it. : )
ReplyDeleteThank you, it's such a brilliant pattern! I got so many compliments on Easter Sunday. Maybe the Tova is in my future!
Deletebeautiful dress, I love the fabric choice too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Sometimes Joann's pulls through for me.
DeleteThe dress looks great! Which size did you end up cutting? I'm considering making one but have heard conflicting reports on the sizing.
ReplyDeleteI cut a medium, but could probably taper to a small through the hips. I have an hourglass. The only issue I keep having isthe gap at the back of the neck. I made a second dress and cut it down a little so it's a tad better. Still not that big of an issue for me. Good luck, it's a great pattern!
DeleteI LOVE that dress, it looks so comfortable!
ReplyDeleteDid you find it difficult to make? I've never sewed clothing from a proper pattern before, but I am very tempted to try with this one!
I replied below :)
DeleteThis was so easy for me! The only part that I would call tedious wasthe bias binding around the arm and neckholes. You should definitely give it a try! I might suggest making a muslin pattern tester just because this takes so much fabric and you don't want to botch your good fabric. I've already made another dress and can't wait to share!
